McKeon Gymnastics State Championship Results

Twentythree Gymnasts from the McKeon Dance & Gymnastics Center in Hopedale racked up 72 State championship placement awards in the 2011 competitive season. Their competitive season ended this weekend at the USA Gymnastics Prep Optional State Championships held in Boxborough, MA at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. McKeon’s Prep Optional Intermediates competed in two divisions at the Championship Meet. In the Intermediate JO Division McKeon Gymnasts placed in the top three positions. State Champion Kylee Black from Hopedale led the way placing 3rd on vault with a 9.075, 2nd on bars with a 9.15, 1st on Balance Beam with a 9.4 , 3rd on Floor with a 9.275 and 1st place All Around scoring 37.4. Jessica Perkins from Mendon placed 1st on the Uneven Bars with 9.475, second on Beam with 8.875, and 1st on Floor with 9.45 and placing 2nd All Around scoring 37.0. Christina Speliakos from Milford placed 1st on Vault scoring 9.4, she was 3rd on Beam scoring8.5, 2nd on Floor with 9.325 and 3rd place All Around with 36.025. Kristen Johnson from Blackstone placed 2nd on Vault scoring 9.2 and 3rd on Bars with a 9.05.

In the Intermediate Senior age division Ariana DeMarco from Milford placed 2nd on Vault with 9.45, 4th on Bars with 8.85, 4th on Beam with 8.825, 1st on Floor scoring 9.625 and 2nd Place All Around scoring 36.75. In the intermediate Junior age Division Emily DiAntonio from Milford placed 6th on Vault with 9.2, 6th on Bars with 9.05, 7th on Beam with 9.025, 3rd on Floor scoring 9.4 and placing 2nd All Around with 36.675.

State Championships began on March 5th & 6th at Holyoke Community College with the USAG Level 5 & 6 Championships which were previously reported. McKeon gymnasts received eighteen awards on that weekend alone. Two being 1st place State Champion titles.

On April 4 McKeon’s USAG Level 4 team competed at their State Championships inGroton, MA . at the Groton Middle School. Winning placement awards for the team were 9 yr olds Kayla Salgueiro and Molly Grassey both from Hopedale with Kayla placing 4th on bars scoring 8.7, 1st on balance beam scoring 9.35, 2nd on Floor Exercise scoring 9.15 and placing 2nd All Around with 35.8. Team mate Molly was 5th on bars scoring 8.6, 3rd on Beam with a 9.15, 1st on Floor Exercise scoring 9.35 and placing 3rd All Around with a 35.75. In the 11 yr old age division Megan McLellan also from Hopedale places 2nd on Vault scoring 9.35, 4th on beam with 9.25, 6th on Floor with a 9.1 and 2nd All Around scoring 36.3. Michaela Vail from Hopedale place 3rd on Bars with 8.8, 5th on Beam with a 9.2, 2nd on Floor scoring 9.25 and 4th All Around with 36.15. Hunter Kadra from So. Grafton placed 2nd on vault scoring 9.2, 6th on bars with 8.7, 3rd on Beam with 9.3 and 5th All Around scoring 35.95. Cassidy Clinton from Uxbridge placed 5th on the Floor. Hallie Malia from Hopedale placed 2nd on the Bars scoring 9.15 and 7th on Floor scoring 9.05.

On April 9 & 10 the USAG Level 7 & 8 State Championships were held Eastham High School on the Cape. McKeon Level 7 competitor Kala Vander-Sluis from Mendon placed 4th on the Uneven Bars scoring 8.5 and 4th on the Balance Beam with 8.4 and 6th place All Around scoring 34.2. Team mate Karlie Jango from Upton place 5th on the Vault scoring 9.15. Level 8 competitor Nicole Sherlock from Uxbridge scored 8.55 for a 5th on the Balance beam.

McKeon Gymnasts Win State Championship

On March 5 & 6 gymnasts from The McKeon Dance & Gymnastics Center in Hopedale competed at Massachusetts USAG Level 5 & 6 State Championships held at Holyoke Community College. Two Level 6 Competitors from the McKeon club took 1st Place All Around honors at the Championship event. Kylee Black of Hopedale in the 12 year old division and Elizabeth Traphagen of Franklin in the 10 year old division. Kylee won her division scoring 36.675 All Around with firsts on Uneven Bars 9.175 and Floor 9.35, a 3rd on Balance Bean 9.3 and 6th on Vault 8.85. McKeon team mate Jessica Perkins of Mendon placed 7th on Beam 9.175 and 8th on Floor 8.9 in the same age division. 10 year old Elizabeth Traphagen won her All Around title scoring 37.125 points and placing 1st on Vault 9.35, 3rd on Bars 9.275, 6th on Beam 9.45. Christina Speliakos of Milford was the 1st place Vault champion in the 11 year old division scoring a 9.45.

In the Level 5 competition 12 year old Lydia Grassey of Hopedale took the 4th Place All Around trophy scoring 35.6 points in that age division, winning 1st on Vault 9.5, 2nd onBars 9.0. Jordan Remillard of Upton Placed 5th All Around in the 10 year old age division scoring 35.875 points winning 2nd on Floor 9.425 and 4th on Balance Beam 9.35. All of the girls are first year competitors in their level and owe their success to early preparedness and consistent training. They all have been competing since October , qualified for States in the firsts Sectional in early December and have been competing in two competitions per month to prepare for the finals. McKeon Gymnasts Title at AAU Age Group National Championships

Orlando, FL – Twenty members of the Hopedale, MA based McKeon Dance & Gymnastics Center’s gymnastics team recently competed at the AAU National Age Group Championships. The 4 day event was held at Disney’s ESPNWide World Sports Complex July 1 through 4. More than 1500 athletes representing 39 states participated. 2010 First Place Title winners for the McKeon Club were Ariana DeMarco of Milford scoring 9.7 on the Balance Beam, Lydia Grassey of Hopedale scoring 9.675 on the vault, Dominique Stevens of Milford scoring 9.35 on the floor and Jessica Perkins of Medway scoring a 9.0 on the vault.

Medalists for the McKeon Team were Level 8 Nicole Sherlock winning 2nd on vault, 7th on beam, 5th on uneven bars, 4th on floor and 4th All Around. Level 7 Colby Hall placed 2nd on uneven bars, 3rd on vault, 6th on floor and 4th All Around. In the Open Optional division Beam winner Ariana Demarco also placed 6th on the vault, 3rd on floor and 7th All Around. In the same division Dayane Mota placed 9th All Around and Alyssa Kelly placed 6th on the floor. In the 11yr old Level 6 division Vault winner Jessica Perkins was also 4th on the floor and 6th All Around. 10 yr old Level 6 Christina Spelaikos won 2nd place on vault and 5th place All Around. 11 yr old Level 6 Kristen Johnson place 3rd on the uneven bars, 2nd on the floor and 7th All Around. 9 yr. old Level 5 Jordan Remillard was 6th on the floor, 6th on the vault and 10th All Around. In the11 year old age group Giana Lanzetta placed 9th All Around and Emily Smith was 7th on uneven bars and 9th All Around. In the Level 4 competition 7 yr old Lauren Pearl placed 6th on uneven bars, 10th on the beam, 7th on the floor, 3rd on vault and 7th All Around. 9 yr old Level 4 Kirsten Buddington-Davis placed 9th on vault, 9th on beam and 11th All Around, Kayla Salguerio place 6th on the uneven bars and 9th All Around, Lily Hetzel Place 11th All Around and Molly Grassey placed 13th AllAround. 10 yr old Julia Alberto place 14th All Around. Level 4 11 yr old vault winner Lydia Grassey also placed 6trh on the uneven bars, 6th on the beam, 2nd on the floor and 4th All Around. Danirose Billings Placed 8th on the vault, 3rd on the uneven bars, 8th on the Beam, 8th on the floor and 5th All Around. 12 yr old floor winner Dominique Stevens was also 7th on vault, 9th on uneven bars, 7th on beam and 6th All Around.
